Liposuction, or lipoplasty, is a great way to contour your body; this procedure can’t be beat when attempting to get rid of “love handles” or the ever popular “saddle bags”.  One drawback, however, is that there is no instant gratification because the body takes up to several months to heal.  Liposuction involves the insertion of a cannula into fatty tissue.  The fatty tissue is then extracted from the body.  The surgeon performing the liposuction usually injects large amount of fluid that contains saline, a local anesthetic and usually a medicine that constricts blood vessels under the patient’s skin.  The combination of these two parts of the procedure can cause significant swelling and bruising and after several weeks there will be a big improvement in appearances.  However, up to six months can go by before the patient sees the final results.
