Acne Rosacea

Acne rosacea is a chronic skin condition of the cheeks, forehead, nose, and chin characterized by redness, spider-like blood vessels, swelling, and skin eruptions. Though exhibiting symptoms similar to acne, acne rosacea has different causes. These causes are varied and unfortunately for the 14 million Americans with acne rosacea, remain unknown. Acne rosacea does not result in whiteheads and blackheads like acne does, and acne rosacea does not generally clear up after puberty. Acne rosacea affects men and women, though it is generally more common in women and more severe in men. Those with acne rosacea tend to have non-localized skin breakouts. Acne rosacea is most common in people with a fair complexion; it is rarely seen in populations with darker skin tones.
