Breast Reduction

Breast Reduction is the surgical removal of breast tissues in an attempt to reduce the width, volume and projection of the breast. While Breast Reduction may be a cosmetic procedure it may also be medically justifiable – particularly if the breast size is contribution to physical maladies such as back pain or scoliosis – and therefore covered by insurance. Like other surgical procedures it is important to have a consultation when considering Breast Reduction, and it may be advisable to speak with both a general medical practitioner and a specialized plastic surgeon when starting to think about Breast Reduction. One of the major drawbacks for women thinking about Breast Reduction is that it may compromise their ability to breastfeed; however, decreasing the amount of breast tissue may lower the risk of breast cancer.
