Keloid Treatment
Keloid treatment options may be available to reduce the size and overall appearance of keloid scars, though unfortunately these types of scars are among the hardest to successfully remove. Keloid scars are formed by an overproduction of collagen, resulting in scars that are raised above the skin, appearing like thick and hard lumps of tissue. Also commonly referred to as hypertrophic scars, keloid scars may be treated with steroids, either applied topically or injected. Other forms of keloid treatment include injections, cryosurgery, and some forms of laser treatments. Keloid treatment can sometimes be difficult because in some cases the keloid scar may partially grow back after removal, making these types of scars particularly resistant to treatment. Keloid scars are often the result of severe acne.
