Pigmentation
Inevitably, as we age, the pigmentation of our skin will change. This can be due to a number of different reasons. The number one factor that causes the pigment in your skin to become altered is sunlight. Overactive skin cells can also contribute to a change in the pigmentation of your skin color. These overactive cells produce an excessive amount of melanin. Melanin is a naturally occurring substance that gives your skin its color. Although it is usually harmless, nonetheless, it can be quite disheartening to see dark spots or patches on your skin. A change in hormones, and certain illnesses and medications, can also cause a change in the pigmentation of your skin.
