Sun Damaged Skin

Sun damaged skin can make a person look years older than their actual age. This process is also called photoaging. Sun damaged skin can be course, dry, freckled, discolored, heavily wrinkled, and leathery or a combination of any of these. There are a variety of treatments available to stop or, in some instances, reverse the aging process and eliminate sun damaged skin completely. Treatment for sun damaged skin will depend on a number of factors such as age, overall health, type and severity of skin damage, and a patient's tolerance to certain medications, procedures and therapies. Treatments may include chemical peels, collagen injections, dermabrasion, laser skin resurfacing, or intense pulsed light therapy (IPT). Topical medicated creams may also be used.
